We could say many things about Vaslav... That he's a singing tour for a cabaret creature taken out of his natural environment. A journey through repertoires and eras. A show about gender. An act about masks, artifice and the finery we use, paradoxically, to reveal ourselves.
From Monteverdi to Gainsbourg, Caetano Veloso to Nirvana, Bob Marley to Brigitte Fontaine. Vaslav is the gamble of a moment of shared presence in the fantasy of words and the emotion of music. But above all, behind Vaslav lies performer Olivier Normand, who offers a dazzling demonstration of his talent. He brings to life a glittering, touching cabaret character who gives himself up to us like a gift.
This poetic androgyne is somewhere between Barbara and Klaus Nomi, Greta Garbo, David Bowie and Georgette Dee. There's even a touch of Marilyn in him. Vaslav, dressed all in black like a magician, haunts us long after we've discovered her on stage.
